PROGRAMS

Our organization's work consists of our own projects as well as work in partnership with other assistance centers. We offer various types of programs to satisfy the individual needs of our volunteers and to attend to the needs of our community as well. Our programs allow volunteers to work mutually with the community.

SOCIAL, EDUCATIONAL AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE: These programs allow you to work in various ways with very poor children and teenagers who really need your support. Many of them are orphans; others have been abandoned and some of them are so young that they require very special attention.

Orphanages and Youth centers (children and teenagers)
These centres are located in the cities and work with at-risk children and teenagers, who present different and varied problems. Many of them are orphans and others have been abandoned by their parents.
Working with them will allow you to learn about the problems that poverty and social marginalization cause within this very sensitive and vulnerable population. Above all working with them will allow you to help them, participating in their social rehabilitation and re-insertion, giving them the chance to become valuable human beings.

Special Education Centers (children and teenagers)
Youth affected by disabilities constitute a health problem due to its impact on the child’s quality of life, and its repercussions on the family.
Children’s well-being is one of society’s most important tasks. The poor economic conditions in Peru, such as hunger, malnutrition, and lack of medical assistance is a cause of high levels of disability. In order to confront this problem, it is necessary to integrate the health system, special education and above all, communication in general.
Expand Perú’s volunteer program aims to unite wills and efforts to develop actions to increase the quality of the attention and special education services that disabled children receive. This will allow the improvement of their quality of life and social integration.

lives and works in the rural area of the Andes

Baby care houses (Children from 0 to 3 years old)
These assistance centers are located in remote urban and rural areas and attend to poor children in their first three years of life. They receive food, care and protection through activities which promote their intellectual, physical and social development. These houses exist in the three geographic zones where EXPAND PERÚ works. You can choose any one of them, for they all need your support and their precarious budget and lack of staff mean that they often depend on volunteers to help this very unique population.

Schools– Rural Setting

Schools in the rural settings do not receive the same amount of attention and help as the ones in the cities. They are faced with a multitude of problems - logistical, economical and technical, and chronically suffer form personnel shortage. The education is kept at the very basic level and there is almost no possibility of any after-school activities which would allow children to develop their personal interests. Thus, the children attending these schools do not have the same opportunities as their peers in the cities. That is why we decided to work in these zones and to provide assistance where it is truly needed. Volunteers work closely with the teachers in the formal education system helping with alphabetization and instruction of core subjects. However, they are also encouraged to develop their own programs that will promote creativity and individual thinking, will allow for the development of children’s personal interests and in general will broaden their horizons.

EXPAND PERÚ – SPECIAL PROJECT

The following Project is organized and administrated by our organization, and funded solely through the volunteer’s

registration fees and donations

Special Project “CASA”

EXPAND PERÚ’s assistance centers named “CASA” take care of children and teenagers living in extreme poverty in the city of Huancayo and in the rural area of the Valle del Mantaro. They are a very important recurso which help families réconcilier work with family life. We offer games, company, cultural, sports and educational activities to the children. We offer the older ones the opportunity to participate in Productive Projects as a response to their family’s immediate economic needs, thereby preventing them from working in the streets, exposing them to unnecessary risks.
