HOW TO GET HERE

Your first point of arrival will be the Jorge Chávez airport in Lima, the capital of Peru, from where you will be travelling to your work place.

LOCATION:

        • Continent:        South America
        • Country:           Peru
        • Work places:

City of Huancayo – Junín region – Andes

City of San Ramón – Junín region – Amazon

To Huancayo from Lima there are three forms of transportation:

By air: You can fly from Lima, with the company LC BUSRE. Flights cost about US$70 and the flight lasts between 40 and 50 minutes. The flight leaves at 8:45am for Lima Jorge Chávez Airport. See http://www.lcbusre.com.pe/index.html

By train: The railway between Huancayo and Lima is the highest in the world and goes through the Andes mountain range from east to west. The only class is tourist class and costs US$80. For more information on the itineraries, see  http://www.ferrocarrilcentral.com.pe

By bus: The best way to get to Huancayo is with the public coaches. The trip lasts about 6 hours and prices vary, from US$5 to US$15, depending on the company you wish to travel with. We recommend Cruz del Sur – Av. Javier Prado 1100 San Isidro – Lima – Peru.       Tel: 3115050. For more information see http://www.cruzdelsur.com.pe

To go to the jungle it is important to first go through Huancayo, with the aim of this interview with the coordinators of our organization and organize all your work before arriving in the jungle.

STAYING IN LIMA:

If you would like to stay in Lima a few days, we recommend that you stay in the district of Miraflores, which is the safest one, with the most facilities and services. There is a great variety of hostels and restaurants of varying prices and quality. We recommend that you stay in:
Explorer House, Av. Alfredo Leon 158, Miraflores. Tel: 241 5002, email: explorer_house@yahoo.es. Prices: Dorms $5 per night, double with bath, $12 per night. It is a very friendly hostel, includes breakfast, hot water, TV with cable, kitchen, DVD player. Speak with Señora Maria Rodas or her daughter Carolina Bravo, and tell them that Expand Perú recommended the hostel.
